Title: UNIFIL: Targeting UN Sites in Lebanon "Unacceptable"

Candice Ardil, Deputy Director of the UNIFIL office in southern Lebanon, confirmed that there have been several incidents of UNIFIL sites being fired upon from both sides since October 20, 2023. Ardil stated in a statement: "In some cases, peacekeepers were injured, but fortunately, the injuries were not serious. We continuously reaffirm to all parties that targeting United Nations sites or using areas near our locations to launch attacks across the Blue Line is unacceptable and constitutes a violation of Resolution 1701." She added, "We have robust measures in place to ensure the safety of peacekeepers and their ability to carry out their duties, including updating our facilities as necessary. We are continuously monitoring the situation and making adjustments as needed, and peacekeeping forces remain able to perform their tasks on the ground and continue implementing Resolution 1701."
