Berri Calls for a Joint Parliamentary Committees Session Tomorrow

The Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, today, Tuesday, called for a joint session of the Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, National Defense and Interior and Municipalities, National Economy, Trade and Industry, and Planning committees to take place at 11 AM tomorrow, Wednesday. The agenda for the meeting includes the following items:

1. A draft law aimed at opening a credit in the 2022 budget amounting to 1,500 billion Lira, to cover expenses for conducting the municipal and optional elections for 2023, submitted by MP Ali Hassan Khalil.

2. A draft law aimed at amending Article 112 of the Penal Code regarding "the prison year," submitted by MP Qassem Hashem.

3. A draft law aimed at amending the Public Procurement Law No. 244/2021, dated 19/7/2021, effective as of 29/7/2022, submitted by MPs Ali Hassan Khalil, Jihad al-Samad, and Alan Aoun.

4. A draft law aimed at amending paragraph 3 of Article 101 of the Public Procurement Law No. 244/2021, dated 19 July 2021, submitted by MPs Ghada Ayoub, Fadi Karam, Razi al-Hajj, George Adwan, Ghassan Hasbani, and Naeem Mata.

5. A draft law aimed at exempting the High Relief Committee from the provisions of Law No. 244 dated 19/7/2021, submitted by MP Adib Abdel-Masih.

6. A draft law aimed at postponing the implementation of the Public Procurement Law in Lebanon for municipalities, except for the municipalities located in the center of governorates, submitted by MPs Bilal Abdullah and Hadi Abu al-Hassan.

7. A draft law aimed at amending the provisions of Articles 83 of the Currency and Credit Law and the establishment of the Central Bank (the law enforced by Decree 13513 dated 1/8/1963), submitted by MP Ziad Hawat.

8. A draft law aimed at commencing the implementation of the "Universal Basic Income" system (the Citizen's Dignity Law), submitted by MP Faisal Karami.
