Saudi Arabia confirmed today, Wednesday, that "the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas in Tehran, is a gross violation of Iran's sovereignty." This remark by Walid al-Khreeji, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, during an extraordinary meeting of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is the first comment from the Kingdom since Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau, was killed in the Iranian capital on July 31. Al-Khreeji added that Saudi Arabia rejects "any aggression against the sovereignty of states or interference in the internal affairs of any country."
