Russian doctor Sergey Agabkin mentioned that food has a significant impact on health, with some contributing to improved immunity and longevity. In a medical program on "Russia" television, the doctor stated: "Many nutrition experts point out the benefits of apricots, as their fruits contain beneficial substances for health, skin, heart, and intestines, and they also help in prolonging life." He added: "Apricot porridge made from dried or fresh fruits is one of the national dishes in Dagestan, and it may be one reason for the longevity of the residents in the Caucasus regions. The nature of food and many other factors, such as physical activity and the environment, also affect health and longevity. We mention apricots because they are rich in antioxidants that slow down the aging process in the body, reduce tissue inflammation, and enhance metabolic processes."
The doctor noted that beneficial substances for the body are also found in apricot seeds, and the residents of Dagestan grind these seeds and add them to apricot porridge for double benefit. Many health experts also indicate that apricot fruits contain natural organic pigments, such as carotenoids, flavonoids, and phenols, which support the immune system and protect against some types of cancer.
