The Director of the Nutrition Department at the Sudanese Ministry of Health in South Darfur, Howaida Abdullah, announced the death of 4 children affected by malnutrition in Tulus locality, noting that the children's deaths occurred last week. According to the Sudan News website, the Sudanese official revealed that "her department has faced a complete interruption of therapeutic milk and food for malnourished children for a month now." Abdullah reported that there are 8 children in the Wadihjam administrative unit in the Redoum locality suffering from severe malnutrition with medical complications, who have been transferred to a treatment center in Nyala. She held the UN organizations working in the nutrition sector responsible for the death of any child due to malnutrition in South Darfur, attributing it to the negligence by WHO, UNICEF, and the World Food Program. Abdullah also criticized UNICEF for sending supplies to Nyala without providing a budget for transporting treatments to localities at a time when the Ministry of Health lacks the basic means to intervene due to losing all mobility resources because of the war.
