The case of the rape and death of 6-year-old Lin Taleb has remained a focal point of public interest in Lebanon, especially following suspicions regarding the involvement of a family member. Lin's mother and grandparents have been accused of withholding information after discovering what had happened.
As of Friday, four individuals have been detained in connection to the case, with the latest being the child's uncle, aged 26, who was arrested last Thursday due to suspicions surrounding him. The child's mother and grandparents are also suspected of concealing information and neglecting the health of the child, who suffered complications after the rape and was subjected to traditional treatments (baths) after her family refused to take her to the hospital.
A source close to the investigation informed "Al-Hurra" that the suspicions of the child's rape have shifted from the grandfather to the uncle. This change occurred after DNA samples taken from the victim matched those taken from the uncle, along with other documented evidence in the investigation report.
The source ruled out any role for the grandfather in the sexual assault, stating that his involvement, along with his wife and daughter (Lin's mother), was limited to covering up the uncle's actions. During his interrogation by the lead investigator, Samarinda Nasar, the uncle appeared nervous and provided incorrect information about his whereabouts at the time of the assault, contrary to data obtained from his mobile phone, which pinpointed his location during that period.
Judge Nasar is set to continue her investigations next Tuesday, during which she will hear from the grandfather, grandmother, and several witnesses.
