The seasoned American tennis player Serena Williams has not ruled out a return to the courts after retiring following her participation in the recent US Open. She cited the case of Tom Brady, the American football legend, who returned to competition despite announcing his retirement. Serena acknowledged during an interview on the "Good Morning America" program on ABC that her older sister Venus has tried to convince her to return to competition, although she currently does not intend to come back.
Serena stated, "She (Venus Williams) hasn’t left the courts. I have. She’s trying to convince me, but I say no, I will wait." She added jokingly, "No one knows. I think Tom Brady started a really good trend."
Brady, 44, one of the most famous American football players, announced his retirement last season but reversed his decision a month and a half later. Serena, 40, who has won 23 Grand Slam titles, announced before the US Open that she intended to retire soon, which she did after exiting the last Grand Slam tournament of the season in the third round.
During her participation in the tournament, Serena received much praise, which the veteran tennis player commented on by saying, "I can't ask for more. I will never forget these moments. They were amazing."
