The anticipated political return of Shiite National Current leader Muqtada al-Sadr is expected to create a new reality that could change all political equations in Iraq. This was stated by political researcher Mohamed Ali al-Hakim, who added that "al-Sadr's political return has become assured; it is just a matter of time, and it is expected to completely change the political equations in Iraq. Al-Sadr will work on forming new political alliances to enable him to establish a majority government."
He further noted that "al-Sadr's absence from the political scene had a significant impact and disrupted the balance, which is why his return is concerning for the Coordination Framework and will have major effects on the political and electoral landscape."
The political researcher pointed out that "an alliance between al-Sadr and Al-Sudani in the upcoming phase is possible, but achieving this will depend on Al-Sudani distancing himself from his allies, the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq. Therefore, we can say that al-Sadr's return will change all political equations."
The Sadrist movement has also introduced the name "Shiite National Current," which is associated with al-Sadr's push towards addressing issues related to the core of the Shiite sentiment in general. These actions are interpreted by observers as an attempt by al-Sadr to attract as many Shiite factions as possible, particularly the "silent factions," which are not considered part of the known audience of Shiite political blocs and currents.
