Beirut Municipality Illuminates Streets in the Sanayeh Area

The Beirut Municipality illuminated several streets in the Sanayeh area this evening, attended by Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud and various social figures. The lighting extended from the Central Bank of Lebanon, past the Ministry of Information, along the street leading to the Ministry of Interior, parallel to the Martyr Rene Mouawad Garden - Sanayeh, reaching the Speirs area.

After the lighting was activated, Abboud delivered a speech stating, "As part of initiatives to enhance security in Beirut and improve the situation for residents, the Beirut Municipality, in collaboration with the private sector, is participating in lighting the streets of Beirut. Mr. Ali Fatouni is at the forefront of the initiatives to illuminate this section of the capital's streets; he had previously lit the Khayyat Hill. I wanted the lighting to include Sanayeh Street and the vicinity of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Tourism, the Central Bank, and Hamra Street. All main streets of the capital should be illuminated; it is a shame for them to remain dark, and today we began with this street."

He concluded, "We have 18,000 bulbs and 450,000 meters of roads with light poles, and we intend to have the larger part illuminated by New Year's Eve. This lighting is powered by solar energy and private generators, and we are today replacing the existing bulbs with more energy-efficient ones, which should have been changed earlier. This is a significant challenge for us, but with the efforts of dedicated individuals, we will succeed."

Fatouni also delivered a speech, saying, "We commend Governor Abboud's remarks regarding the lighting of Beirut's streets, and we will strive in the future to illuminate all areas of Beirut without exception, implementing the lighting in phases. We have fully illuminated Khayyat Hill today, and this lighting is powered by generators, so it operates both day and night. We will work on lighting the airport road. We hope to illuminate the larger part of the capital by New Year's Eve. With the support of the governor and the municipal council, and in cooperation with charitable associations, all of Beirut will be illuminated."
