The organizing committee for Beirut Capital of Arab Youth 2023 announced that it has begun welcoming youth delegations from 16 Arab countries to participate in the opening ceremony scheduled for 5:30 PM tomorrow, Thursday. The first activity of the "capital" will also be held on the same day, which is the Arab Youth Forum for Economic and Social Empowerment.
The participation of 16 countries marks a record number in Arab participation in youth activities. Hassan Sharara, the director of the "capital," expressed pride in the large gathering of participants, noting that 46 Arab youth representing 15 Arab countries have arrived, reflecting the desire of Arab brothers to return to Lebanon and their love for it.
In addition to the Arab participants, 12 young men and women from Lebanon will also attend, bringing the total number of active participants in the forum organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and UNICEF to 58.
The forum's activities will commence at the Hilton Metropolitan Hotel on Thursday morning with speeches from Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the head of the executive office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports and Egypt's Minister of Youth and Sports; Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League; a representative from UNICEF; and Dr. George Klas, the Lebanese Minister of Youth and Sports.
The organizing committee had circulated a list of senior guests participating in tomorrow's grand opening, which includes Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the head of the executive office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports; Dr. Mohamed Salama Al-Nabulsi, the Jordanian Minister of Youth and Sports; and Ahmed Al-Mubarak, the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports.
The list also features Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, and General Jibril Rajoub, the Palestinian Minister of Youth and Sports. Other notable attendees include Mishaal Al-Subaie, the Director General of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Youth, Somar Zaher, the head of the Syrian Youth Revolution Union, Hassan Bouhazaa, the head of the Arab Volunteer Union, and Ashraf Mahmoud, the head of the Arab Union for Sports Culture.
The forum's intensive activities will last for two days, accompanied by tourist visits organized by the committee for guests to the cities of Byblos and Baalbek.
