Meteorology experts recorded a record temperature in the Russian capital, Moscow, today, reaching +31.9 degrees Celsius. Roman Vilfand, the scientific director of the Russian weather center, stated to the "RIA Novosti" agency that today's weather in Moscow matched the temperature record set 134 years ago, with the last time the city's temperature reached +31.9 being in 1890.
Mikhail Leo, a leading specialist at the Russian "Phobos" weather center, pointed out that today marked the highest temperature recorded in Moscow over the past 75 years and since the beginning of 2024.
On July 1, 28 temperature records were set in Russia, one of which was in the Kherson region (+35.9 degrees Celsius), surpassing the previous record of +34.7 degrees Celsius set in 2017. In the Pskov region, the thermometer reached +34.3 degrees Celsius, exceeding the former record of +30.7 degrees Celsius from 2022. In Chita, a record of +34.1 degrees Celsius was recorded, surpassing the previous record of +33.8 degrees Celsius in 2022. In Saint Petersburg, the maximum temperature of the day reached +33.2 degrees Celsius, compared to the previous record of +31.9 degrees Celsius in 2022.
