Fatah leader Munir al-Jaghoub affirmed that the signing of a joint international statement by 17 countries supporting U.S. President Joe Biden's proposal "proves the lack of trust these countries have in the Israeli government and its delays regarding a ceasefire." In a statement to Al Arabiya, al-Jaghoub said, "The Israeli side speaks of U.S. guarantees to continue the war, while the Palestinian side talks about U.S. guarantees to ensure that this war will stop. It is clear that both sides need U.S. guarantees to implement the plan, which complicates matters." He indicated that "this war must be completely halted, and discussions should begin regarding the future of the entire Palestinian issue, as a fundamental solution is the only way to end the conflict, which will occur by ending the occupation and finding a solution based on international legitimacy and international law, rather than a temporary ceasefire." He explained that the joint statement calls for both Hamas and Israel to make concessions to reach an agreement and end this war, noting that "the goal of the United States and Israel is to recover the hostages only, while Palestinians want their freedom and the withdrawal of the occupation from the sector and an end to the war." The United States, along with 16 other countries, had called in a joint statement for Hamas and Israeli leaders to make any necessary concessions to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.
