"Beirut Golden Awards" Honors Haj and Saud for Their National Achievements

The "Beirut Golden Awards" association honored Lebanon's basketball team coach and Al-Hekmeh Club's Jad Haj, as well as the national team captain and star of the Sporting Club, Amir Saud. This took place during a special ceremony for the first semester of the year, held at the Ambassadors Hall in Casino du Liban, in the presence of Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud, Beirut Mayor Abdullah Darwish, Lions Club Governor Said Alama, former Minister Abdullah Farhat, association president Mohammed Halwani and its members, along with several social and artistic figures.

The association has dedicated sports honors at each of its events throughout the year, continuing to highlight athletes' achievements each semester, aiming to emphasize the importance of their contributions to uplifting Lebanon, particularly those who represent it and its clubs on the international stage. This was the context for honoring Haj, who recently led the national team to win the title of the first Beirut International Cup, achieving victory in all its matches, alongside Saud, who was appointed captain and was also recognized for his significant contribution to leading Sporting Club to win the Dubai International Tournament, where he stood out considerably.

Regarding the honorees, Halwani stated: "Jad Haj and Amir Saud should have been honored earlier, but their commitments with the national team and clubs prevented this from happening." He added, "We cannot overlook the significant role both have played over the past years in elevating Lebanese basketball and sports in general; it is enough that they have been at the heart of the achievement of Lebanon's return to the big leagues through qualifying for the World Cup, not to mention their strong presence seasonally in the Lebanese Championship."

He concluded: "This is our first event in 2024, and until the end of the second semester of the year, we will keep our eyes on all courts to select outstanding athletes for recognition as a token of thanks and appreciation for their efforts in creating a space of joy and hope for all Lebanese through their victories and achievements."
