Hours after finding explosive caches around the capital, Amman, the Jordanian army announced the thwarting of an infiltration attempt from Syria across the border. A responsible military source stated today, Wednesday, that security forces successfully foiled an attempt early in the morning to smuggle large quantities of narcotics originating from Syrian territory. The statement indicated that the skirmish resulted in the death of one smuggler, with others being injured and retreating back into Syrian depth, adding that the seized materials have been transferred to the relevant authorities. Additionally, the source confirmed that "the army is working to utilize all capabilities and resources to strike hard against anyone attempting to tamper with security." It is noteworthy that over the past months and years, Jordan has repeatedly announced the thwarting of numerous attempts to smuggle weapons and drugs carried out by infiltrators linked to some Iranian militia groups in Syria.
