The Media Center of the Egyptian Cabinet denied on Saturday the rumors circulating on some social media pages regarding the government's intention to sell Egyptian airports to foreign entities. The Media Center contacted the Ministry of Civil Aviation, which refuted these claims, confirming that there is no truth to the government's intention to sell Egyptian airports to foreign entities.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation emphasized that Egyptian airports are entirely state-owned and are under Egyptian sovereignty. The state is implementing a comprehensive strategy focused on improving airport efficiency and increasing their capacity by executing a series of development projects for airport infrastructure, enhancing the security system, and upgrading all security devices at Egyptian airports, in addition to expanding the network by opening new markets and supporting low-cost aviation.
Moreover, the ministry indicated that the goal is to offer the management and operation of airports to the private sector, considering it more capable of managing and operating different projects and facilities, which will contribute to attracting more investments and maximizing economic returns in the aviation sector, alongside supporting state policies aimed at enhancing partnership with the private sector in management and operations.
Additionally, the Media Center urged all media outlets and social media users to ensure accuracy and objectivity in news dissemination and to contact relevant authorities to verify information before sharing news that lacks factual basis, which could lead to unnecessary confusion among citizens.
