The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the continuous monitoring by the specialized units in the Internal Security Forces to combat robbery and theft with armed force in various Lebanese regions, specialized units have been tasked with intensifying their efforts and patrols in areas where these operations are prevalent. The Information Branch managed to identify a gang whose members execute armed robberies while impersonating security personnel, using a black Toyota Corolla with tinted windows. They target citizens and delivery workers in different areas of Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
Immediately, the specialized units began their field investigations to uncover the identities of the gang members and arrest them. As a result of intensive investigations, they identified their identities, including the mastermind of the gang, identified as: A. H. (born in 1991, Lebanese). On February 5, 2024, after close monitoring, the special force of the branch spotted him in a Toyota car in Roumieh, where they conducted a precise ambush and arrested him, seizing the vehicle and forged documents.
During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding conducting numerous armed robberies in various areas, including: Bhamdoun, Aley, Antelias, Rabweh, Tellet al-Khayat, Ain el-Tineh, and the Roshe. They would intercept citizens and delivery workers with the car, after changing or completely removing its plates, impersonating security personnel, and using a pistol and a military rifle, along with a pouch. They would inquire about the victims’ identification documents to distract them and then rob them of their money and phones before fleeing to an unknown location.
He also admitted to forging real estate documents, certificates, identity cards, etc., and attempting to sell a property after fraudulently altering its documents, in collaboration with: M. K. (born in 1956, Lebanese) and T. N. (born in 1967, Lebanese).
On February 9 and 10, 2024, patrols from the branch arrested the aforementioned individuals in the areas of Bou Achir and Mansourieh, who also confessed to the charges against them. Legal proceedings were taken against the detainees, and they were handed over to the concerned authority, following the instructions of the competent judiciary.
Therefore, based on the judiciary's instructions, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces spreads the image of A. H. and requests that anyone who has fallen victim to his acts should go to the Information Branch - Mount Lebanon section, located in the Bashaa bridge area, or contact the number 513732-01 in preparation for taking the necessary legal actions."
