Story of "Spirit": Extracting a Baby Girl from the Womb of a Palestinian Woman Killed in an Airstrike on Rafah

Story of

Palestinian health officials announced that a baby girl was born from the womb of a Palestinian woman who was martyred along with her husband and another daughter in an Israeli attack on the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, where 19 people died last night in intense airstrikes. The officials added that the family was killed due to the bombing of two houses, including 13 children from one family.

Dr. Mohammad Salama, the physician caring for the newborn, stated that the baby weighs 1.4 kilograms and was born via emergency cesarean section, with her condition stable and gradually improving. He mentioned that her mother, Sabreen Al-Sakni, was pregnant at 30 weeks. The newborn was placed in an incubator at a hospital in Rafah alongside another infant, and a sticker was placed on her chest reading “Daughter of the martyr Sabreen Al-Sakni.”

A relative named Rami Al-Sheikh said that Malak, the small daughter of Sabreen who was martyred in the airstrike, wanted to name her new sister "Ruoh" (Spirit). He added, “Her little sister calls her Ruoh. She went as Malak… and the girl is also happy that her sister is coming into this world.”
