Abdel Salam Haniya commented today, Wednesday, on the assassination of his father, Ismail Haniya, the head of the Hamas political bureau in Tehran. Abdel Salam Haniya stated that "his father survived four assassination attempts throughout his national career, but today God has granted him martyrdom as he always wished." He added that he "lived through many struggle phases with his father, including displacement, imprisonment, and persecution," saying: "My father prepared our family for such a day, as he used to tell us since we were young that he could become a martyr at any moment, and thank God he has attained this honor." Abdel Salam Haniya further expressed that his father "was keen on national unity and striving for Palestinian unity." He concluded by affirming that "this assassination will not deter the determination of the resistors until liberation."
