Lapid: The Demarcation with Lebanon is Historic... Netanyahu Describes it as Surrender

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid stated: The agreement with Lebanon is a historic achievement that will bolster Israel's security, inject billions into the Israeli economy, and ensure the stability of our northern borders. A meeting of the security cabinet and the government will be held on Wednesday to approve the agreement. In turn, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz remarked: We have not conceded an inch in the maritime border demarcation agreement with Lebanon. He added: We will present the border demarcation agreement with Lebanon to the public transparently.

In this context, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned in a statement on social media that "Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid has surrendered to Hezbollah and cannot be Prime Minister." He referred in a message directed to Israelis to a "very alarming message," clarifying that the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Mr. Hassan Nasrallah, threatened Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid in relation to the maritime border negotiations.

He expressed in a recorded statement published through social media that "Lapid intends to hand over Lebanon without any oversight or control from Israel over our gas reserves in Karish, which are worth billions of dollars and which Hezbollah will use to buy thousands of rockets aimed at Israeli cities." Netanyahu added: We will deal with the maritime border demarcation agreement with Lebanon as we have dealt with previous bad agreements.

For her part, Israeli Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked announced that she would vote against the border demarcation agreement with Lebanon if it is not presented to the Knesset.
