The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, predicted that "Lebanon will witness an increase in cholera cases due to the outbreak in Syria," emphasizing that "medications are available and the vaccine depends on the situation of cases in the country." Al-Abyad stated during a press conference on Friday morning, after Lebanon recorded its first cholera case, that "the ministry is cooperating with unions, particularly doctors and nurses, to conduct training sessions for healthcare workers to ensure full readiness in case of a rise in cholera cases." The Minister of Health noted that "if there are any questions or doubts about any case, citizens are asked to contact the hotline 1787."
