Expressing hope that the visit of the Sultan of Oman would be a starting point for a more prosperous phase in the relations between the two countries, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed his happiness at meeting Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Abu Dhabi. This was stated in a tweet by Sheikh bin Zayed on his official account on the platform “X,” where he said: "I was happy today to meet my brother, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, in Abu Dhabi."
He emphasized that the relations between the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman are those of brothers, bound by deep ties of kinship, neighborliness, and shared destiny, and confirmed the UAE’s keenness to invest in all available opportunities to develop and advance these relations in ways that serve our development goals and enhance our mutual interests.
The meeting also addressed Gulf cooperation amid the challenges facing the region and the importance of enhancing it to achieve mutual interests for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and their peoples, as well as contributing to the security and stability of the region.
Both sides discussed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly the developments in the Middle East, efforts to contain tensions, and prevent their escalation, which poses a serious threat to its security and stability. They also highlighted the importance of exercising restraint and prioritizing wisdom to spare the region from new crises that could affect everyone and hinder cooperation and development efforts for the benefit of their peoples.
