The German coach Hans Flick commented for the first time after signing the contract to coach Barcelona, starting next season, on Wednesday. Flick stated in remarks highlighted by the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo": "First of all, I would like to thank everyone who played a role in my appointment. It is an honor and also a dream to sign a contract to coach Barcelona. Working with this club, and for this great club."
He added: "I am extremely excited to start working with this wonderful club. Since I arrived, I have noticed that everyone loves the club and does everything possible for its success." He continued: "I love having my team control the ball and to present attacking football. These are the aspects I cherish, and we will work to achieve them."
He went on: "Barcelona has one of the best academies in the world. In the first team, there is a good mix between experienced players and young talents." He added: "We must work on improvement. This is our task alongside Deco and Laporta... For me, it is important to work in a team spirit. We need to collaborate on this aspect. I am happy to do this with these people."
He noted: "I have won some titles with Bayern Munich, and I would like to continue this path at Barcelona. We can achieve a lot together, and that is the most important thing." He concluded: "I say to the Barcelona fans: Hello friends, I am very excited to start this journey with you. Your support is very important, and together we can achieve a lot with this great team. Long live Barcelona!"
It is worth mentioning that Flick won a treble of league, cup, and Champions League titles with Bayern Munich in 2020.
