The Egyptian presidency announced today, Tuesday, that "Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein on the sidelines of the international conference for emergency humanitarian response in Gaza, held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan." The official spokesperson for the presidency stated that "the two leaders affirmed the strength and depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries, expressing appreciation for the ongoing agreement and coordination between the leaderships on regional and international issues."
The spokesperson added that "the meeting included consensus on the importance of continuing coordination and consultation regarding the developments in the Gaza Strip, which was reflected in the joint call to hold a conference for emergency humanitarian response in Gaza, as both leaders believe in the necessity of immediate and urgent action to rally international efforts to address the humanitarian disaster facing the region, warning of the serious repercussions of continuing Israeli military operations, and emphasizing the need to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and protect civilians."
The leaders also stressed their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands, calling for a collective international effort to achieve a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Hashemite Kingdom is hosting an international conference for emergency humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip today, which has been at war for the past nine months.
