The French Football Federation announced today, Wednesday, its final stance on Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the French national team, following their exit from the Euro 2024 tournament. France lost to Spain, 2-1, on Tuesday evening at Signal Iduna Park in the semi-finals.
Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation, commented on Deschamps' situation in an interview with the French newspaper "L'Équipe": "We had a generally positive tournament, despite the bitter exit and defeat to Spain."
He added, "Deschamps will continue at least until the 2026 World Cup, as he has a contract with us, and he achieved our goal in Euro 2024, which was reaching the semi-finals."
Diallo further stated, "Deschamps' tenure as coach of the French national team has been exemplary; he has won multiple tournaments and the team performed at its best during Euro 2024."
He concluded, "I see no reason to discuss Deschamps' future with France; his previous results speak for themselves. He has always achieved our goals and will continue his journey with us." A meeting will be held with him to discuss upcoming challenges and what transpired during the recent Euro tournament.
