A knowledgeable source revealed today, Monday, that an investigation committee has arrived in Maysan to understand the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Colonel Ali Hamid Al-Dubi, commander of the 10th Border Brigade, which occurred yesterday, Sunday. The source stated in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "an investigation committee coming from Baghdad arrived in Maysan a short while ago based on high-level orders to look into the details of the assassination".
He added that "the colonel played important roles in thwarting three of the most significant drug smuggling operations in the country, and all suspicions are directed towards drug mafias being behind the crime as an act of revenge due to his crackdown on smuggling operations in recent months".
The source also mentioned that "there are three important leads currently being pursued in an effort to uncover the identities of the perpetrators", affirming that there is high-level interest in tracking down and arresting those involved and bringing them to justice.
