Explosion in

A series of explosions occurred at one of the brigades belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) south of Baghdad this Thursday, according to Iraqi sources. The explosions took place in ammunition storage facilities, while reports regarding the causes were conflicting, with speculation whether they resulted from a drone strike or were an accidental incident involving old munitions. Fire trucks rushed to the explosion site in an attempt to control the fire that broke out as a result.

A source told "Baghdad Today" that "an explosion occurred in weapon storage facilities within the Al-Awairij area south of the capital." He noted that "the sounds of the explosions are still ongoing due to the detonating munitions stored in the facilities." He also mentioned that "no security forces have been able to approach the area to control the incident as the explosions are still continuing."

In response to the incident, the PMF issued a statement regarding the explosion at the logistics support warehouses of Brigade 42 in southern Baghdad tonight. The PMF's media release stated, "At 19:00 today, an explosion occurred in the logistics support warehouses of Brigade 42, specifically at the rear camp in the Yusufiya area south of Baghdad."

Additionally, the statement read, "The organization formed a specialized technical committee to investigate the causes of the explosion, with all rescue personnel, health teams, and firefighting vehicles present. The incident, according to initial information, did not result in any human casualties."
