Police and the public prosecutor's office in Berlin have revealed a doctor suspected of killing four of his patients and then setting their apartments on fire in the German capital. He has been placed in pre-trial detention.
According to media reports, the 39-year-old doctor, responsible for palliative care through a home care service, lit the victims' homes on fire to conceal the evidence. It is not yet known how he killed his victims.
The information indicates that these acts were committed between June 11 and July 24, and the victims were four women aged between 72 and 94 years. One of the victims, an 87-year-old woman, was revived on June 11 after firefighters arrived at her apartment but later passed away in the hospital.
So far, the police and the public prosecutor's office have not provided any motives for these acts committed against elderly female patients living in Neukölln and Treptow, two working-class neighborhoods in Berlin.
