Security Forces Uncover Drug Trafficking and Extortion Network in Zahle

The General Directorate of State Security announced in a statement that after receiving information from the State Security office in Zahle about a dangerous network involved in drug trafficking between the towns of Deir Zنون, Bar Elias, and Taanayel in the Zahle district, it was found that the operation is managed by a Syrian individual named (Z. H), who is based in an apartment in Taanayel. He uses three mobile phones, each containing two WhatsApp applications, for his criminal activities. In addition to his involvement in drug dealing, he was also engaged in fraud and extorting numerous women of various nationalities.

Following careful monitoring and surveillance conducted by the State Security in Zahle, and upon the directive of the Public Prosecutor in the Beqaa, Judge Monif Barakat, State Security patrols arrested five members of the gang. They seized 12,000 Captagon pills and various other narcotic substances. During questioning, the gang leader was confronted with the crimes he committed and confessed to over 50 cases of extortion.

After consulting with the Public Prosecutor in the Beqaa, it was decided to conclude the records regarding the detainees and to circulate the image of the detainee (Z. Abu H.) for identification by those who have been victimized, directing them to report to the State Security office in Zahle for further action.
