A new video has revealed the incident of Amr Diab slapping a young man who tried to take a selfie with him during a wedding in Cairo, an event that has sparked wide reactions in Egypt. The video showed that the young man tried to touch the artist and pull him by his clothes to take a picture, which led to Diab slapping him in the face.
For his part, Osama Al-Koutari, the father of the young man involved, confirmed that the family would begin taking legal action against Amr Diab for the intentional humiliation of his son. He stated to "Al-Arabiya.net" that his son did not do anything wrong; he only wanted to capture a memorable photo with a singer he grew up listening to, and was surprised by the humiliation he faced. He explained that he had not seen the video but had received calls from relatives in Luxor informing him of the incident.
He also added that his son is going through a significant psychological crisis due to the slap and is not speaking to anyone until he receives justice and restores his dignity, clarifying that the family will not let the matter pass quietly. Being originally from Upper Egypt, they will not give up their rights or those of their son, no matter what happens.
In response to the incident, Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris expressed sympathy for Amr Diab, but acknowledged that the artist was wrong towards the young man. Sawiris tweeted on the platform "X": "He was definitely wrong. But you are walking and singing for the people, and suddenly someone pulls you back forcefully to take a picture... isn't that rude?" A close friend of Amr Diab revealed that the artist was surprised by the public's reaction to the incident, as he did not expect the video to spread in this way and become a topic of conversation among the public and on social media.
