The leadership of the Amal Movement expressed regret over the "campaign of abuse against the Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri." In a statement, it said: "After the extent of the attack and slander against the President of the Amal Movement and Speaker of the House, Mr. Nabih Berri, from various parties has reached a level that can no longer be tolerated under any circumstances, you shall know them by their fruits; one does not harvest grapes from thorns, nor figs from brambles. To avoid interpreting our silence as acquiescence to the fabrications of those haunted by nightmares and obsessions, we affirm that it is unfortunate the slander directed at our brother, President Nabih Berri, by parties known far and wide. These parties sometimes claim that the Speaker has no right to call for dialogue and is infringing upon the powers of the President of the Republic, forgetting the dialogue of 2006 in which he was personally present and at that time there was a call for his participation in the government. At other times, they claim that President Berri is not in favor of forming a government, while he has sincerely and strongly strived for its establishment. However, the truth is as clear as the sun: those who accuse and launch arrows towards him are the ones who have obstructed the formation of the government and wish to name most of its ministers without granting it confidence. So who is the obstructer? The memory of the Lebanese still echoes the saying, 'For the sake of the son-in-law, the government will never form.'"
The statement continued: "Since drawing parallels reminds us of the delineation, and the sea is always related to Hisham and the martyrs, the role of President Nabih Berri in reaching an agreement regarding the southern maritime borders with occupied Palestine is being attempted to be concealed. He laid the foundations for it, built upon it, and completed it before and even during the current mandate up to its conclusion."
The leadership expressed surprise at "the inclusion of some media outlets in the campaign of slander, such as the newspaper 'Nidaa Al-Watan,' which claims to speak on behalf of a party while demonizing others."
The statement concluded: "It is a sad irony that the call for dialogue has become a crime, while the cacophony of fragmentation, division, and emptiness is hailed as a virtue. What a shame."
