Saudi and Gulf Embrace of "Taif" and Reaffirmation of Rejection of Interference in the System

Saudi and Gulf Embrace of

The support forum for the Taif Agreement, called for by the Saudi Embassy in Lebanon, will be held at the UNESCO Palace tomorrow. This event is of great significance, given the delicate circumstances Lebanon is experiencing and the intense pressures exerted by internal and external entities targeting the Lebanese system that this agreement laid the foundations for since its approval, with Arab and international support.

This forum, which Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Walid Bukhari has diligently prepared for at all levels by inviting political, diplomatic, human rights, labor, and media personalities, aims to garner maximum support to affirm that the Arab and international umbrella for this agreement still exists. It emphasizes that no internal or external party can interfere with this agreement, which the Lebanese people have accepted as the constitution for their country.

The renewed Saudi embrace of the Taif Agreement through this forum reaffirms that the Gulf's support for Lebanon remains strong, with hopes that the new era, built on the ruins of the previous one, will be a good omen for the Lebanese. It is anticipated that this new leadership will create the appropriate environment to help Lebanon emerge from the tunnel and restore ties with Arab nations, particularly the Gulf states, which have been affected by the policies of former President Michel Aoun and his allies. These policies have severed connections between Lebanon and these countries, turning Lebanon into a platform for attacking its brethren, to serve Iranian interests and the so-called "resistance" axis.

While the Parliament has reaffirmed its support for the caretaker government, contrary to what former President Michel Aoun intended with his message, it is expected that the government will focus on urgent daily issues. This comes as President Najib Mikati insists on the necessity of creating suitable conditions to expedite the election of a president for the republic, which is considered the entry point to exit this predicament. This was conveyed by President Mikati to Patriarch Bechara Raï and Christian spiritual and political leaders, noting that the powers of the presidency have transitioned to the caretaker government and not its head.

Amid rising warnings about potential plans to destabilize security, Army Commander Joseph Aoun has stated that the military will not permit any disturbance to security stability. This message is clear to those who may try to exploit the presidential vacancy to disrupt stability and incite strife among the Lebanese. This comes in light of widespread condemnation of attacks by supporters of the "Free Patriotic Movement" against the MTV station, which has prompted political circles to caution against potential escalation intentions from the "Aounis" to confuse the internal arena following threats made by their leader, Deputy Gibran Bassil.

Sources revealed that the army has informed political forces that it will not allow anyone, regardless of their status, to exacerbate the internal atmosphere through threats to security. The army will not hesitate to act with an iron fist against anyone who dares to use chaos for political ends at the expense of the country's security and public stability.
