Israeli broadcasting authority reported today, Monday, that a police and army force thwarted an attempt to smuggle 75 pistols and a piece of weaponry from Jordan to Israel. In detail, the authority stated that a monitoring unit observed three suspicious individuals crossing the security fence in the Jordan Valley and found combat equipment in their possession. It was reported that security forces were summoned, who discovered the weapons inside three bags without apprehending the suspects. A statement issued by the police said, "Monitoring by Unit 636 last night (early Monday) identified three suspects who crossed the fence in the Jordan Valley area, and after search operations in the region, fighters from the (Metilan) border guard unit and army forces from (Battalion 47) found three bags containing more than 75 pistols and dozens of weapons." The statement added, "Security forces continue extensive search operations for the suspects." The police indicated that the weapons were transferred to continue the investigation within the Anti-Crime Unit (YelaP) in the Shai area.
