The Shepherd: We are Living a "Real Crisis" in Lebanon

The Shepherd: We are Living a

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros al-Rahi pointed out that "we are living a 'real crisis' in Lebanon, and we must return to it so that the parliamentary council can elect a president of the republic according to the clear and explicit constitution." Al-Rahi said in his Sunday Mass sermon: "Truth is not separate from our daily reality and our temporal affairs. Existence itself is a truth that provides it with a framework, requirements, rights, and duties. This applies to the human person, family, society, church, and state, as well as to economics and social matters. Therefore, truth is a culture that must be acquired. We have no right to live apart from the truth in all its sectors and dimensions. We are experiencing a crisis of truth in Lebanon. We must return to it, firstly to elect a president of the republic according to the clear and explicit constitution. We cannot remain outside the framework of truth and live in falsehood among each other, while our homeland disintegrates before our eyes along with its constitutional institutions. Rather, we must embrace a clear culture of truth, which is unambiguous, so we can be honest and reconcile with one another in its light." He concluded by saying: "Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that God guides us to the truth that brings us together and unites us through the richness of our cultural and religious diversity. Glory and praise be to Him now and forever, Amen."
