A clash occurred in the Madi neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut between members of the Amal Movement and a resident of the area, over preventing him from entering his home. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which an Amal member fired a gun at those present. Following this, several local residents intervened and requested the Amal members to remove the barrier due to the violations being committed by their elements.
The official from Hezbollah in the Madi neighborhood, Samir Qubani, known as Abu Samra, died from his injuries after being accidentally shot in the head while attempting to resolve a dispute in the Maawad area of the southern suburbs last night.
A joint statement later was issued by the leaderships of Hezbollah and Amal, which stated: "Following the individual incident that occurred in the Maawad Madi area, which developed into gunfire resulting in the injury of the martyr Haj Samir Qubani by mistake, the Lebanese army intervened and carried out a wide deployment, initiating an investigation to apprehend those involved." The statement also expressed condolences to the family of the martyr and emphasized the need to maintain security through official forces and security agencies.
