Negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip began this Thursday afternoon in Doha, attended by the head of the Israeli intelligence agency, his counterparts from the United States and Egypt, and the Qatari Prime Minister. John Kirby, spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, urged all parties to attend the Gaza talks in Doha. He also urged Israel and Hamas to "show flexibility and make concessions," stating, "It is still possible to make progress in the coming days." The White House announced that "we believe Israel has achieved most of its military objectives in Gaza and has succeeded in defeating Hamas." Kirby, in an interview with CNN, indicated that "there is information suggesting that Iran has not backed down from its threat to attack Israel, including carrying this out through its proxies in the region," adding, "We believe that an Iranian attack on Israel will occur in the coming days."
