Turkish Official Meets Putin's Envoy in Syria

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz met on Saturday with Alexander Lavrentiev, the special envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin for Syria, in the capital city of Ankara. The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on the platform "X" that the meeting was part of consultations concerning the Syrian issue. The consultative meeting was held with representatives from the relevant institutions of both countries regarding the Syrian matter.

Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan revealed that a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is planned to take place in a third country. He added, "There is currently no clear timeline for the meeting between the two presidents." Prior to this, the newspaper "Turkey" reported that officials from Turkey and Syria held three rounds of discussions last month regarding the normalization of bilateral relations and organizing the first meeting between the two presidents since 2011.
