Stormy Weather Continues... Snow

The Meteorological Department's forecasts indicate that the low-pressure system "Farah" will continue, bringing snow down to about 500 meters in the northern regions. The announcement stated:

**General Situation:** The impact of the storm "Farah" on Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin will intensify starting from dawn tomorrow, Monday. Heavy rain will fall, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, particularly in the northern regions. Temperature will significantly decrease, and heavy snowfall will occur at elevations of 1100 meters, with snow levels dropping on Tuesday and Wednesday to reach 600 meters in northern areas. The storm will gradually recede starting Wednesday afternoon, with cold polar winds leading to the formation of ice on mountainous and inland roads, accompanied by a frost wave that will last until next Saturday, when temperatures will begin to rise.

The department warned of "flying billboards and solar panels, flash floods, and hazards on mountainous roads on Sunday and Monday as the storm renews."

**Expected Weather in Lebanon:**

- **Monday:** Cloudy and stormy with strong winds exceeding 100 km/h, especially in the north, causing sea waves to approach 5 meters. Thick fog will form on highlands reducing visibility, with heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. Flash floods are expected on roads. Temperatures will drop, with snow starting from 1000 meters during the day and reaching 850 meters at night. Caution is advised on mountainous roads, especially the Deir al-Baydar road due to snow accumulation.

- **Tuesday:** Generally cloudy with a notable additional decrease in temperatures below seasonal averages, and fog forming on highlands. Intermittent rain will occur, intensifying at times accompanied by thunderstorms and active winds reaching 70 km/h before noon. Snow will fall at 800 meters during the day, dropping to 500 meters by Wednesday early morning, especially in the north. Caution is advised on some mountainous roads due to snow accumulation, which may lead to road closures.

- **Wednesday:** Cloudy to partly cloudy with continued temperature drops (about 4 degrees below seasonal averages). Intermittent rain may intensify at times in the southern regions in the morning. Snow will fall at elevations of 600 meters and above. The intensity of rain and snow will decrease by afternoon, gradually subsiding overnight. A cold polar front will dominate the country, causing frost wave and ice formation on mountain and inland roads at 600 meters upwards, leading to slippery conditions; thus, driving caution is advised.

- **Thursday:** Partly cloudy with light intermittent rain especially in the north and some snow at 600 meters in the morning. During the day, it will gradually clear with a slight rise in temperature, though remaining below seasonal averages. Warnings about ice formation on mountainous roads will continue during early morning and night leading to potential sliding hazards.
