The number of teams participating in the 24th Arab Women's Basketball Championship, set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from September 6 to 15, has increased to nine. These teams are: Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy from the UAE, Kawkab Athletic Club and Majd Tanger from Morocco, North Gas and Sanharib from Iraq, Mouloudia and Kosidara from Algeria, Al-Qurain Sports Club from Kuwait, and Al-Fuheis Youth from Jordan.
Abdullah Shalabi, the Secretary-General of the Arab Basketball Federation, stated that the door will remain open to allow other clubs wishing to participate. Based on this, the federation has decided to conduct the draw during the last week of this month via its website.
In another context, the UAE representative continues its external training camp in Serbia in preparation for the championship and for the Gulf Games, which will start in Abu Dhabi on August 26. The team has played two matches so far, and the decision regarding the hiring of professional players for participation in the Arab Championship will be finalized in the coming days.
Regarding the 35th Men's Club Championship hosted by Qatar from October 1 to 12, the number of teams has reached 14, with a maximum of 16 allowed to ensure the technical and organizational success of the tournament. These teams include: Qatar and Al-Ahli from Qatar, Beirut from Lebanon (which won the bronze medal in the previous championship in Kuwait), and two teams from Kuwait: Al-Kuwait (the defending champion) and Qadsia, along with Al-Ittihad from Egypt, Al-Minaa from Yemen, Al-Ittihad from Libya, Al-Brij Services from Palestine, Al-Seb from Oman, Al-Muharraq from Bahrain, the Syrian Army, and the Algerian Sports Union.
