Algerians woke up on Friday to a video captured by surveillance cameras showing a brutal attack on a pharmacy carried out by a family consisting of a mother and her children using cold weapons. The video showed a group of youths assaulting a pharmacy located in the Bab Zawār neighborhood, east of the Algerian capital, with knives directed at its employees. One employee tried to avoid being stabbed, while others attempted to defend him using metal bars for protection.
The confrontation continued outside the pharmacy as many citizens gathered, and some employees fled to the street. The pharmacy owner, Dr. Tabti, issued a statement regarding the attack, saying that "the perpetrators are a single family made up of a woman and her three sons who came to the pharmacy to buy medication, but that was not possible. After causing a commotion, they left, returning three hours later in a car with weapons, and perpetrated their attack."
The speaker added that "the incident resulted in five injuries, with some still hospitalized in critical condition."
