An Iraqi forensic report revealed a surprise after examining the bodies of Kuwaiti citizen Faisal Al-Mutairi and his Saudi friend Anwar Al-Dhafiri, who were killed while on a hunting trip in a desert area of Iraq. Dr. Saleh Al-Mutairi, the uncle of the Kuwaiti citizen Faisal Al-Mutairi, stated, "According to many explosives experts, including Iraqis, the explosion narrative is refuted, and my observation of the bodies shows that the incident was not an explosion but rather a direct targeting." He noted that their falcon was alive.
In a press statement, Saleh Al-Mutairi said, "According to the images I reviewed and received from Iraqi media, they completely deny the claims regarding the deaths of Faisal Al-Mutairi and Anwar Al-Dhafiri as a result of a bomb explosion." He added, "The Iraqi forensic report indicated the presence of gunshot wounds that led to their deaths, and then the bodies were burned in such a horrific manner." He continued, "They were on an official licensed hunting trip and were betrayed." He remarked, "The official Iraqi narrative announced by the Iraqi foreign ministry regarding them being subjected to an explosion of an old bomb is incorrect."
A video featured Saleh Al-Mutairi stating, "The Iraqi forensic report indicated the presence of gunshot wounds that led to the deaths of Faisal Al-Mutairi and Anwar Al-Dhafiri, and then the bodies were burned in this horrific manner... they were betrayed during a licensed hunting trip."
They were buried in the Sabahi cemetery shortly after. Social media users circulated images from the site where the two bodies were found in the Al-Sukairyat area in the Salah al-Din desert in Iraq, one belonging to a Saudi citizen residing in Kuwait and the other to a Kuwaiti citizen.
The circulated images showed the car and the bodies next to it being charred, as well as the traces of gunshots that had hit their vehicle. Furthermore, the Saudi Embassy in Iraq announced that the relevant authorities in Iraq found two bodies on Tuesday, one belonging to a Saudi citizen and the other to a Kuwaiti citizen, indicating that they are following up with the Iraqi authorities regarding the circumstances of the incident.
In a statement, it was mentioned: "In reference to what has been circulated in the media regarding the disappearance of a Saudi citizen and a Kuwaiti citizen in the Anbar Governorate of the Republic of Iraq, the Saudi Embassy in Iraq informs that the relevant authorities in Iraq found today two bodies belonging to a Saudi citizen and a Kuwaiti citizen, and the embassy is following up with the Iraqi authorities regarding the circumstances of the incident and the results of the ongoing investigations."
