The General Customs Authority in Iraq announced today, Tuesday, the total seizure operations at its ports during the past year, which included more than 3.5 million drug pills. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the head of the General Customs Authority, Hassan Al-Akeeli, stated that "the authority carried out dozens of seizure operations, some related to pharmaceuticals and others involving contraband goods," noting that "the Anti-Smuggling Division conducted over 7,500 investigative operations at all ports." Al-Akeeli added that "the authority was able to seize more than 3.5 million Captagon pills in one of the ports, which were hidden among boxes of apples," indicating that "the authority presents the suspected materials to the relevant inspection authorities before referring them to the court or the Anti-Drug Office."
