Title: Bou Saab: Mediators Are in Constant Contact and Aiming to Prevent Wide-Scale Escalation

The Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Elias Bou Saab, called for a "transparent investigation into the Majdal Shams incident in the Syrian Golan" in an interview with "Sky News Arabia." He added that "negotiations regarding a deal in the Gaza Strip are linked to the Majdal Shams incident." In a conversation with Al Jazeera, Bou Saab noted that "mediators are in constant contact with us and are trying to prevent us from reaching a wide-scale escalation. We do not want war, but the Israelis want to cover up what is happening in Gaza by expanding the escalation." He further stated that "U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein is well aware of the difficulty of controlling the fronts amidst the ongoing war in Gaza, and adherence to UN Resolution 1701 must be from both sides and can only be implemented by ending the Gaza war." Bou Saab confirmed that "Lebanon is united and will be even more united if Israel decides to expand its aggression, emphasizing that the Israelis must understand that war is not what will bring the population back to their towns in the north. He stressed that if civilian casualties occur or if Beirut and its suburbs are targeted, we will not consider that a measured and limited response."
