Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki confirmed on Thursday that the current situation is being handled with the utmost wisdom to support the Palestinian cause and aid the Palestinians based on a two-state solution. During a tactical training project for the second field army, he stated that "the Egyptian army is capable of facing any challenges imposed on it," emphasizing that "Egypt has constants that it does not stray from and does not lean except towards national security." He pointed out that "the activities and training tasks carried out by the Armed Forces send a message of reassurance to the Egyptian people regarding the constant combat readiness of its armed forces." He clarified that "the preservation of Sinai is not complete without comprehensive development."
On Wednesday, Egypt rejected a report published by CNN claiming that it had changed the terms of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stating that it had sent a letter to the American news network demanding the immediate publication of Cairo's response. Diaa Rashwan, head of the Egyptian State Information Service, said the report published by CNN was, in fact, "mere allegations devoid of any information or facts, and lacking credible journalistic sources according to internationally recognized journalistic standards." Negotiations for a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages and prisoners have stalled multiple times, as Israel continues its war on the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing for more than seven months.
