Mali has requested the departure of its Swedish ambassador following statements from Stockholm about reducing aid due to Mali's severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. The Malian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "The Swedish ambassador in Mali has been informed of the need to leave the country." In a statement posted on the X social media platform, it was mentioned that the Swedish ambassador, who was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was informed to leave the country within 72 hours due to a hostile statement from the Swedish Minister for International Cooperation and Trade regarding Mali. Earlier, Swedish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Johan Forssell had stated that his country decided to abandon its aid strategy for Mali this year due to Bamako's break in diplomatic relations with Kyiv.
