Successful Security Operation to Arrest a Suspect in Motorcycle Thefts

The following statement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Branch: As part of the monitoring efforts by the Internal Security Forces to reduce motorcycle thefts in various Lebanese regions, and after the Information Branch arrested a gang involved in armed motorcycle thefts, the specialized units within the branch continued their investigation to identify and arrest other individuals involved. They managed to identify a person who was purchasing stolen motorcycles from the gang and selling them. His residence was located in the Hay el-Sellom area, identified as M. M. (born in 2001, Lebanese), who has a criminal record for theft, murder, drug-related offenses, and gunfire. He has /3/ warrants for the crimes of dealing in stolen goods, theft, and gunfire.

On June 26, 2024, following precise surveillance, a patrol from the branch conducted a raid at his residence in Hay el-Sellom, resulting in his arrest. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding the purchase of hundreds of stolen motorcycles from various individuals, including members of the aforementioned gang, as well as stealing motorcycles and selling them. He added that he delivered the motorcycles in the Mar Mikhael area to individuals sent to him by a Syrian resident in Tripoli, for a fee of /100/ US dollars per motorcycle. He also admitted to using hashish and purchasing it from Hay el-Sellom. Legal procedures were carried out against him, and he was referred to the relevant authority based on judicial directives.
