"Cyberbullying Campaign" Against American Beauty Queen... and Why!

Young Sara Milliken faced a wave of online bullying due to her weight after being crowned in the Miss America National pageant. The 23-year-old responded to the trolls who called her an "embarrassment," mocking her appearance and weight, stating: "Even the thing you write on the screen can leave a lasting impression on people." She added in a press statement: "Although I am not at this stage, it can push people to do some very dark things to themselves."

The young woman insists she is determined not to let harsh criticisms hinder her as she prepares for the national finals, which will take place in Florida during Thanksgiving next October. Sara's victory was her third attempt in the competition, and she hopes to promote "positive self-image by enhancing natural beauty from within."
