Raad: We Are Moving to Bring the President We Want

Mohammad Raad, head of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc, affirmed, "As we face the presidential entitlement, we know who we want and we are moving to bring the president we desire." He considered that "the presidential vacancy is created by the lack of agreement on a suitable president for our resistant people. When this agreement is reached, there will be a president for the republic. We are more eager for that than anyone else; the issue is not about raising our voices but about the seriousness of action."

Raad's statements came during a commemorative event held by "Hezbollah" for the martyrs of the Islamic Resistance in the southern town of Majdal Zoun, on the occasion of Martyr's Day, at the town's husseiniya, in the presence of former MP Abdel Majid Saleh, several scholars, dignitaries, family members of martyrs, and a gathering of locals.

He explained, "As for the government, we tried hard, almost sacrificing our dignity, to form a government to manage the country's affairs before the president's term ended, but all the efforts we made were in vain because there are obstinate individuals who want the country to remain vacant, fearing that no one will think of filling the presidential seat again."

He indicated that "some in Lebanon are being stubborn today in the same way they resisted the formation of the government, because they want a president brought from abroad to become the head of the country, and this will not happen easily, no matter how long it takes."

He stated, "Those who wish to determine their fate themselves must bear the burdens of this goal, which lies in saving the society, the nation, and the region. Thus, a sovereign, free, and independent state cannot be built if it expresses the interests of foreigners, far from the interests of the nation's people."

Raad concluded, asserting, "We want a state that reflects the interests of the nation's people, opens up to the outside world, and engages with others based on safeguarding the common interests between Lebanese and others. It is important to note that we are not advocates of isolation from others, but rather advocates of openness based on our commitment to our values and our project."
