Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a phone call today, Saturday, with British Foreign Minister David Lammy, during which they discussed the recent security developments in the south and the need to intensify efforts to halt the cycle of violence. Mikati emphasized the necessity of pressuring the Israeli enemy to cease its direct targeting of southern towns and villages, which leads to casualties, injuries, and severe destruction, expressing his fear that "the current cycle of violence could result in an escalation with dire consequences." For his part, Lammy assured Mikati that he would "intensify his diplomatic communications to stop the escalation and prevent matters from spiraling out of control."
