Blood Covers Dutch Player’s Face at Paris Olympics

Dutch star Josi Burg suffered a severe injury during the semi-final match of hockey against Argentina in Paris, as blood covered her face on Wednesday before she helped her team qualify for the final match. Burg (27) was struck in the face while trying to defend against her Argentine opponent, Agustina Gorzelany, which led to the match being stopped two minutes before the end of the first quarter for her to receive treatment from medics. Burg left the field accompanied by two physiotherapists, but surprisingly returned to support her teammates wearing a shirt without a number, as she was not permitted to wear the bloodstained shirt. To address the situation, Dutch team officials placed a number made of tape on her shirt so she could continue playing. The Netherlands qualified for the final match after winning 3-0, awaiting either Belgium or China, in pursuit of their sixth gold medal in hockey in history.
