The Basateen area witnessed the overturning of a truck and the evacuation of a residential building, along with the collapse of parts of the structure, due to ground subsidence in the area. The Cairo Operations Room received a notification about an incident that led to the collapse of parts of a residential building, prompting security forces, supported by ambulances and local leaders, to rush to the scene.
Upon inspection, it was found that a 20-ton truck had overturned on a vacant plot of land adjacent to the eighth lower area, due to ground subsidence near building number 8007. This resulted in the collapse of the side wall and large sections of it, as well as a part of the rear wall. Additionally, damage and bending were noted in the rear corner column of the building due to the truck carrying rubble and dirt falling and colliding directly with the building's column.
Authorities stated that building number 8007, which contains only two occupied apartments, was immediately evacuated, while the rest of the structure was uninhabited. The committee for buildings at risk of collapse was notified to assess the damage and take the appropriate decision based on their inspection.
